“Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?” ~ Goodreads
So I’m pretty sure everyone know this, with all the ‘hype’ its had, that this is a sequel to three other books. It is the last book in the series. But I thought I’d just mention it just in case. So spoilers (possibility I guess) for the three books before it.
The cover is so pretty!! To me it looks like a photograph/real as well as a drawing. The glowing of the apple is so realistic, its almost like it’s coming off the page.
The beginning/first half was kind of slow but it was necessary to build up to the climax. Though it was slow it wasn’t boring. There was so much going on. Once the book hit the climax it was so fast paced. I was so engrossed in the book and the plot. I was riding the bus to school, and I almost didn’t pick up my backpack and put it on my lap. Which is something I have to do about halfway into the ride because there’s so many people that get on the bus. Like the bus is so full that people have to stand…lots of people. The last few chapters were the after math of the rebellion. The aftermath left me wanting more of the fluffiness, wanting to know more about what happens to the characters. But I guess that’s what fanfiction is for.
With the other books, they were more about whoever the book was named after. This wasn’t really the case for this book. But also it was kind of expected because this is the book about Cinder leading the rebellion. It was about half and half for being about Cinder and Winter. Cinder did have a slightly bigger role.
There was kind of diversity. I mean the book is about an alien world. Also Cinder, the book, is set in China. Which makes Cinder, the girl, sort of a poc but more importantly her boyfriend is. The book does talk about other nations but it’s mostly China.
This book was the best in the series…at least in my opinion. It’s brilliant and I think anyone/everyone should read this series. It’s a fantastic ending to the series.
